Celebrating 20 years - Merilee's Story

We are excited to celebrate 20 years in the Anchorage community! Thanks to our wonderful, enthusiastic and dedicated clients who have come to spend an hour or two (sometimes 12) with us throughout the week!

20 years ago, if you had asked us where we'd be now, I don't think anyone would have been able to predict all of the wonderful lasting relationships we've had the amazing opportunity to build. The structural changes are just a bonus when it comes to the community we share!

Merilee's

I first entered the Studio to use a coupon. That was in 2004. The Studio had 1 room (Suite 600). I had taken Pilates classes in other places but, quickly learned that Studio One was different. I was hooked. That coupon lead to a punch card to membership to instructor training within 2 years. The classes I took from Elaine, Paul, Ana were an education for my mind and body. I have found that the education never stopped. I am continually learning from other instructors and from our amazing clients. Those "ah ha" moments are still happening in 2020.

Over the years the Studio and Paul in particular have helped me through various physical challenges including broken bones and frozen shoulder. I have learned to look to my favorite Rolfers and my Vasie exercises when the body says something is off. For over 40 years most of my work day is spent sitting staring at a computer. This had lead to neck and shoulder problems. Doctors said surgery but thanks to Studio One that has not been necessary. In my office you will find a mat, a small ball , a medium size ball and a flex band. If you stop by and my office door is locked and if you listen hard you may hear soft long exhales through some pursed lips.

I am thankful that I have had to opportunity to work with the wonderful people who walk through the door at Studio One. You continue to inspire and teach me. No matter how tired I am I feel rejuvenated after teaching a class. Thank you Studio One clients!

And BIG thanks to Paul for creating Studio One and Vasie Pilates. Here is to the next 20!
