Long Relaxed Neck
A longer neck pain and tension free starts with strong feet. If you've been doing VASIE Pilates for a while you've probably experienced the profound sense of control and poise by strengthening your arches and toes.
During neck week at Studio One you should expect to see the same great, well balanced workouts plus added bonus neck exercises and a bit more focus on the upper body.
How does it work?
The power of Structural Integration Exercise is to build from the ground up and the inside out first. Like building blocks we start from the foundation build and strengthen all the way to the top.
How to build a longer, stronger pain free neck check list:
1. Strong feet & balanced arches
2. Strong inner thighs, glutes and pelvic floor.
3. Neutral pelvis
4. Neutral collarbones
5. Deep stabilizing muscles of the neck active, big moves muscles of the neck relaxed and only working when needed.
This week you will notice a couple of tiny sneaky exercises in almost every class...they will help you tone the Longus colli/capitus
These muscles are like the pelvic floor of the neck. You don't have to work them very hard but finding them can be tricky...ask your instructor for help! Chin nods, head-wins, hand-wins and sidebends are some of the moves you will see.
